Tucson Veterans Stand Down for homeless vets have been set.  What is not yet clear is the actual time for the volunteers to be present, but I anticipate a half-hour before serving and 1 ½ hours serving for a total time of approximately 2 hours per shift.

Nancy Hand is a former on-air producer for AZPM’s flagship news program, Arizona Illustrated, and a former radio and print journalist. She is currently a self-employed Spanish interpreter and translator, with more than 25 years experience working for the US Department of State and other public and private clients. 

Nancy is the current president of the League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson and is committed to advancing the League’s mission of empowering voters and defending democracy. She has lived in Tucson for 24 years and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

THEME WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE

Sister José’s is dedicated to improving living circumstances and eliminating homelessness. Our guests have access to nutritious meals, clean clothes, hot showers, laundry facilities, safe spaces and a supportive community so they can create a self-sufficient life and move out of homelessness.

Bob joined the Rotary Club of Sebastopol, California in 2007 shortly after moving into
town. It wasn’t long thereafter, as a polio survivor, that he joined his District’s PolioPlus
Committee and was soon giving polio talks to clubs throughout the district.
He earned his club’s “Rookie Rotarian of the Year” award his first year and the
“Rotarian of the Year” award a few years later.
Bob served as president of his club, as Assistant Governor, and then as District Governor
in 2017-2018.
While DG, he and 13 other bike riders in the district created a 6-day bike ride called
“Pedal 4 Polio”, riding 350 miles from one end of our district to the other. Clubs along
the way supported the riders with an end-of-the-day party, potluck dinners, and beds.
Needless to say, many friendships were formed that week between the riders and
Rotarians along the route. They raised over $140,000 for PolioPlus, and after the Gates
Foundation 2 for 1 match, that $140,000 grew to $420,000.
Besides numerous Rotary Conventions Bob’s project travels have taken him to Mexico,
Uganda and twice to India, once for a Rotary Friendship Exchange and once for a
National Immunization Day in New Delhi in January 2020, right before the pandemic
hit.

He is currently serving as the “End Polio Now” Coordinator for Zone 27, working with
the 14 Rotary Districts and their clubs in the Northwestern U.S.
Bob was recently awarded Rotary’s 2022-23 International Service Award for a Polio Free
World. He is a member of the Paul Harris Society, The PolioPlus Society, and with his
wife Peggy, are major donors and members of the Bequest Society.
Bob retired as an airline pilot from USAirways in 2002...and now claims his second
career is Rotary.

What is range anxiety?

Range anxiety is the fear of driving an electric vehicle and running out of power, without being able to find a charging station on time to replenish the battery. 

According to our research, approximately 30 percent of potential EV drivers today feel uncertain about being able to charge their vehicles when they need to.

Is EV range anxiety warranted?

The fear of running out of juice is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to greater EV adoption but has as much to do with psychology as it does with the actual range of EVs (or the availability of charging stations).
