Damond Osterhus Prsenter. What is range anxiety?Range anxiety is the fear of driving an electric vehicle and running out of power, without being able to find a charging station on time to replenish the battery. According to our research, approximately 30 percent of potential EV drivers today feel uncertain about being able to charge their vehicles when they need to. Is EV range anxiety warranted? The fear of running out of juice is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to greater EV adoption but has as much to do with psychology as it does with the actual range of EVs (or the availability of charging stations). |

Maya Adams <mzacnm@gmail.com> She got her BA at NAU, her nursing degree at the U of A, and her midwifery degree at UC Denver. She did an internship here in Tucson at the Birth Center, which no longer exists, and then started working there. She later worked for El Rio and now she is with Baby Moon Inn. I suggested she talk about midwifery and why women choose it rather than OBGYN. She went to Uganda in the 3rd year of the Rotary Global Grant “Empowering Women” Maya Z. Adams MSN, CNM Overview. Midwifery is defined as “skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate care for childbearing women, newborn infants and families across the continuum from prepregnancy, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and the early weeks of life”.

Tucson Plastic Program SteveKozachik@tucsonaz.govThe service agreement between the city and ByFusion for this award-winning program is scheduled to be voted on tomorrow at the Mayor and Council meeting. In next week’s newsletter, I’ll share the details of the agreement and how the vote goes. The pile of plastic is growing by the day waiting for us to get past this step. While we wait, make note of the drop-off locations below and remember that for the next few weeks, the ward 4 site is inside the first entry to Lincoln Park off from Pantano.
\I’ll get to the plastic reuse program below, but first a quick update on our glass reuse program. There are about 20 drop-off locations scattered around town. The 22’ bin we have at the ward 6 office is emptied at least weekly, and sometimes more often. The glass is crushed by our contractor Strategic Materials. They pay us per ton, and we get a portion of the ‘silica sand’ that’s produced. The majority of the sand is left for SM to sell into the secondary market. That was the main point of starting this when I first suggested it. Companies such as Dow Corning use the material in their production process. Another use is cutting it with mortar to make cement. You’ve likely seen the near-tragic bridge collapse that happened last week in Philadelphia. A friend of W6 Ryland sent this link to an interesting story about the Philly city officials integrating a concrete product made partially from the crushed glass into the rehab of the bridge. Since the Tucson program began, I’ve been advocating that we do more productive things with our crushed bottles than simply filling sandbags. Philadelphia is a city showing some pretty significantly important ways it can be put to use. |
